In news from Grenada, Nadia Bishop, the daughter of former Prime Minister Maurice Bishop of Grenada, has called for the unconditional forgiveness of the men who have been held responsible for the murder of her father and his ministerial colleagues on October 19, 1983. Bishop, who currently resides in the US, paid a recent visit to Grenada and met with members of the Grenada 13, who were ll part of the events that led to her father's death. According to Bishop, the men on Monday expressed their regrets for the events of October 19 and extended apologies to all of the families who suffered losses on that day. Bishop also used the opportunity to apologize to the families who she said would have felt harmed by the revolution and by her father, and for all those who were detained or killed during the revolution. Bishop reported that it was the first time she had spoken to the men since the death of her father and their subsequent incarceration in connection with his death and the events of October 19. Bishop said that it had taken her 22 years to get to this stage, and that through forgiveness; a great burden had been lifted.
