In Jamaica, police have reported a 23 percent decrease in the number of murders in February, compared with the same period last year.
The police reported 99 murders were committed last month compared to 129 last year the same time.
The number of violent crimes has also dropped dramatically over the same period.
The constabulary's monthly crime statistics showed shootings plunged 49 per cent in February, with 89 incidents, compared to 175 for the same month last year
