Trinidad opposition leader found guilty of financial impropriety

Monday, April 24, 2006

Trinidad and Tobago's Opposition leader, Basdeo Panday has been found guilty for failing to declare monies held in a London bank account. The ruling was handed down shortly on Monday by Port of Spain Magistrate, Shermon McNicolls at the city district court.

The former Prime Minister has been found guilty of failing to declare income and assets for the years 1997, 1998 and 1999, thats while he held office. This is contrary to the country's Integrity in Public Life Act of 1987. It is the first time a Prime Minister in the country has been found guilty of such charges.

Panday was given three years hard labour and is to pay the state TT$1.5 million , thats US$250,000

The Beginning of the End of Corruption in the Caribbean!!!
This is a very positive sign, I hope the other Caribbean Islands follow suit. Edward Seaga, PJ Patterson and nuff more polititions will come next. Let's put an end to white-collar criminals.
Oh just had to put in my two cents. All Islands are countries but not all countries are Islands. Island refers to land mass surrounded by water while Country refers to a territory / people of a nation or state

To TrinitoDiBone
I read all most of the newspapers from the Caribbean on a Daly basis for the past 3 years and I have never read or heard anyone describe Trinidad the way you did. You need to Stop! The violence in Trinidad is now starting to get out of control. Over the past 5 years Trini was only knows for kidnappings. Where were you over the past five years when the Phantom police been rinning Guyana red? When Buxton people get fed up and murdered 20 police officers in less than 2 months, people from one part of the country can get to the other becasue Gunmen hold up the east coast. Yo go rest yah self....

Ru stupid? iunno who de ass teach you in school but Trinidad IS a country...an Island country. What about Jamaica, Barbados, St. Vicent, Australia, The Phillipines, Japan, The Bahamas, Fiji, and Haiti (just to name a few). Are they not considered countries also because they are an island? If you think about it, North America, South America, Africa, Asia and all the other continents are just "larger versions" of an island... you know ... the way you put it? "Land surrounded by Water". EVERYTHING IS SURROUNDED BY WATER. Look at a fucking world map u dumb bitch, google it then m aybe you might know what I'm talking about. You must be the dumbest shit ever to say Trinidad isn't a country. Grow up and stop hatin' on Trinidad. Get a fuckin life

Usage of Words!!!!
A word can be used in many different ways. It all depends on the way in which the word is used! example: The country where I was born is Jamaica, it is a Island located in the Caribbean. I could also say the Island that I was born is ......!( Relative to what we should ask when using a word).

common knowledge
Trinidad is not a country it's an Island you know land surrounded by water. Guyana is not and Island it is a country in south america surrounded by its continental neighbors Brazil, Surinan and venezuela. Panday is not white he is indian just by name then by association and crime. corruption is everywhere. Poverty causes desperation in the heart of man. greed causes corruption in the heart of the rich.

Guyana MP murdered!!!
For all who don't already know lemme break it down for yall. Guyana's current state is similar to the Wild West. Corruption is so rampant that you don't know when your time is gonna come. There are so many guns for hire in Guyana that no one is safe. If you check todays issue of the Guyana Chronicle (guyanachronicle.com) which is a state owned paper. They already pointing the finger at Buxton (an all Black village in Guyana) Anytime a murder or crime occurs in Guyana, the government blames the people from Buxton. Word is going around that the Murdered MP was assassinated by the ruling PPP party (coolie and his own party) to frame the opposition PNC(black) and Buxton (PNC strong hold) and make it look like the PNC is trying to destabilize the government and recapture the current elections. Buxton people dont stand for noncence and I bet if any body from Buxton is touched , you can count on a 100 more murders before the month end.

Guyanese minister murdered

Saturday, 22 April 2006

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock in Guyana Satyadeow Sash Sawh and three other persons, were shot and killed last night.

There was quick reaction from Barbados' Agriculture Minister, Senator Erskine Griffith.

He expressed shock at hearing the news, about his regional colleague, describing, Sawh's death as a tragedy.

Griffith says they had built very good relations over the last few years, which worked well, in building the friendship between Barbados and Guyana

Where is Spice Now!! Is T&T really any Better than Guyana
This is exactly my point, of NO COUNTRY IS BETTER THAT ANOTHER, SOME GOVERNMENTS TAKE CARE OF THEIR PEOPLE WHILE OTHERS DONT. Look, TT the wealthiest English speaking Country in the Caribbean is jailing its former prime minister for embezzlement! If this type of investigation were to be carried out in the rest of the islands, most of the MP's in Guyana, Haiti and Jamaica would be in Jail. And dont forget about the one George Bush.
