The Monetary Council of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank have forecasted a drop in the percentage of stay over visitors to the Caribbean this season owing to a slow down being experienced in the American economy at the present moment. However, the council, comprised of Ministers of Finance from the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, says that the decline will likely be tempered by an increase in stopover arrivals from Europe by persons from that continent who will be taking advtange of their increased purchasing power. Anguilla's Minister of Finance, Victor Banks, who currently chairs the council, also said that he expected the pace of economic expansion in the next fiscal year to be moderate, due to the slow growth in construction activity in the aftermath of Cricket world cup 2007.
