In St Lucia, the candidate who lost the United Worker's Party nomination vote to replace deceased Prime Minister John Compton has reacted with venom. George Daniel, who lost the nomination by two votes, has accused Prime Minister Stevenson King of bribery, a charge which the Prime Minister has vehemently denied. Daniel says the PM offered him a job as Economic Policy Advisor in the office of the Prime Minister in return for quitting his campaign against ruling party candidate Jeanine Rambally. Daniel lost the nomination by two votes to Mrs Rambally, who is the daughter of the deceased Prime Minister Compton. Following his defeat Daniel criticized the selection procedure and opted to run for the November 26 bi- election as an Independent candidate.
