Cuba is expected to sign its first human rights agreement. This is according to Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque. The signing is expected to take place during the first trimester of 2008 and ties in well with the International Agreement on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Agreement on Civil and Political Rights.
The Cuban diplomat said that the step taken by the island, coincides with the Human Rights Day celebrations and is the result of a sovereign decision, without any external political influence.
