Gov't seeks syndicated support for education

Monday, December 10, 2007

Prime Minister Bruce Golding's administration is seeking support for the country's ailing education system, from a number of powerful multilateral agencies, including the World Bank, International Development Bank, and the European Commission. Speaking to a large contingent of western Jamaica's corporate community at the Palmyra Foundation's inaugural fund-raiser event held recently golding said that, his administration is in the process of preparing the initial project documents for submission. The rationale for starting with the initial stage of education follows on the recognition and acknowledgement of what is recognised in the education sector as the Critical Learning Period.

western education???
If there isn't a move made to make educating young jamaicans about their ancestry and their rightful place in the world, then all the efforts are in vain. Jamaica is in it's current state because of western influence and principles. Neglecting to allow our children the real opportunity to "know thier roots", we also neglect to direct them to a productive and prosperous future. Take notice of who the PM is reaching out to. Call me a skeptic, but I see more debt in Jamaica's future coming off this initiative. It sounds progressive, I admit/ However, we the general public owe it to ourselves to know "what" the cost for such a move will be.
