The United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is committing US$1 million over the next two years to improve literacy in all of Dominicas primary schools. A Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Dominica and the United States of America was recently signed in Roseau.
US Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Mary Ourisman signed on behalf of the United States government and the Minister for Education, Vince Henderson signed on behalf of the Dominica government. The Program offers training and follow-up support to teachers, with a view to making them better reading instructors.
