Police have seized some 600 kilos of cocaine from a sailboat in the Atlantic which was bound for Spain. In an anti narcotic intelligence operation mounted by the Spanish police, investigators were able to track the British registered sailboat from the coast of Antigua, to the Portuguese islands of Azores and Madeira where it was finally intercepted. Three crew members from France, Italy and Spain wee arrested in the operation. Officials believe that Portugal and Spain have become the new gateway for drugs entering Europe from Latin America and the Caribbean.
