Caribbean sportsmen and authorities are speaking out against doping as according to the, the field of athletics will crumble under another scandal. What does this mean for the caribbean? Well, according to Ato Boldon, a four-time athletics Olympic medalist from Trinidad and Tobago, spectators will soon stop supporting athletics if it turns out that the top athletes are doping. Boldon said too many people already question top performances and another big name testing positive would ruin what credibility remains in a sport that has never recovered from Canadian Ben Johnson's shameful 1988 doping disgrace."A lot of people don't believe anything they see and unfortunately someone like Asafa Powell is a victim to that, and its not fair," Boldon said. If the trend continues, many young aspiring athletes from the Caribbean may run into a dead end. |
