After years of scandal in the Judiciary, Tobago-born jurist, Ivor Archie, has taken on the mantle of leadership. At all of 49, Archie is to date the youngest Chief Justice to serve the Republic. The young Chief Justice is also poised to be the longest serving one-with a tenure of 16 years ahead of him. His appointment represents a break with the tradition of appointing persons relatively close to the retirement age of 65. Archie succeeds Satnarine Sharma as Chief Justice.
