Antigua and Barbuda's former Prime Minister Lester Bird has vowed to 'rescue' his country from the hands of the present administration which he says is directly responsible for the increase in crime in that twin island state. Speaking at a political rally in Antigua's capital, Bird commented that Baldwin Spencer's government had created a "crime mecca" in Antigua, and that given the opportunity, he (Bird) would ensure a return to glory. During his speech, the former Prime Minister also criticized the current administration for what he called gross overspending on the construction of the roads around the the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.
