St Lucia, a financial analyst has submitted a proposal to that island Government to battle the ever increasing cost of living in that OECS isle. The proposal which was recently forwarded to the St Lucia Civil Servants Association, suggests pay hikes for civil servants for the triennium 2007 2010. According to the proposal, the increase would be as follows: grades 1-6, an increase of 8%, grades 7-12, 6% and Grades 12-18, a 5% increase. The analyst said the pay hike was justified by the recent increase in airport service charge which moved from 35 ECd to 68, the high increases of goods on the supermarket shelves and the steep increase in petroleum and petroleum related products, which in some instances, have more than doubled. |
