In a news update, St Vincent's Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Colin Williams has discontinued the case brought against Vincentian Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves."On a review of the totality of the evidence, there is no basis upon which Ralph Gonsalves could be charged for any of the offences as alleged," the DPP said in a release to the media.Williams said he did not have to give any reason(s) for his action and made the point the has the authority to take over any criminal and discontinue it "without providing any public explanation." Meanwhile, Williams said that although there were persons who gave statements about in the complainants defence, there was not enough evidence for the case to move forward. The complainant, who was at the time attached to the Special services Unit of the Police Force, has since been transferred to another department. She is now away from the job on sick leave.
