Golding wants to take a bite out of crime

Monday, February 4, 2008

Jamaica's Prime Minister Bruce Golding has said that putting a stop to the violence and crime in Jamaica is his government's number one priority. According to the Prime Minister, the Government is pursuing a strategy that is designed to "get to the neck of the crime problem". Golding made these comments during his first radio call in program as prime Minister, in response to a question posed by a caller regarding the out of control crime rate. "We cannot deal with just the symptoms of crime. We have a new Commissioner of Police and a new Chief of Staff and they are pursuing this matter very vigilantly and very diligently," the PM said. Golding also commented that the Police would be using more appropriate technology to increase their crime fighting capabilities. The new one-hour radio call-in programme 'Jamaica House Live' is part of the Government's thrust to keep the public informed about its policies.

crime resolution for jamaica
In order for the security forces to take control of crime in jamaica, one must first find the root of the problem. That root is lack of proper education for our youngsters. Iam a father of five children, (born from five different mothers) who are now well educated men and women, through some of the most prominent secondary institution in jamaica (Wolmer's Boys and girls, Munroe College, St Jago and Alpha). I was not welloff financially. But not one of my children became a criminal nor has never been involved in any criminal activity, and by the way, they were from five diffrent households. They stand as examples that education works to stablelize a nation toward peace and prosperity, because whenever they are together no one can tell that these five people are not of one mother. So without the government setting aside some stern and mandetory rules in regards to education,as I did as a father, they will never be in control of crime and violence in jamaica.
