Jamaica's Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett has reported that 2007 was a record year for Jamaica's tourism industry. Speaking at a press conference earlier this week the Minister revealed that close to three million persons visited the island, generating more than US$1.9 billion in revenues. Bartlett did reveal however that despite the encouraging figures, there was an 11% decrease in a cruise passenger arrivals, owed largely to the "redeployment of vessels out of the Caribbean." For 2008, the Minister said the industry is predicting a 3 per cent increase in cruise passenger arrivals, a 13 per cent increase in stop over arrivals, and a 14.5 per cent increase in revenues
