The Caribbean's sole socialist state Cuba has brought some much needed help to citizens of Haiti by introducing the poverty ravaged nation to their cost effective energy saving program. Under the program, 2.8 million low-energy consumption light bulbs were installed in various household and business places throughout the French Creole nation.Haiti's national statistics say that the overall figure represents 7 percent more than originally planned, including visits to 93,572 homes and 63,000 workplaces. The energy saving program is part of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), a regional initiative that emphasizes mutually beneficial social and economic partnerships within member states.
