Cops under heat in JA, robbery, assault, corruption and bribery...
Tuesday, April 8, 2008
Four Police officers have been brought before the courts under allegations ranging from robbery, to kidnapping to attempts at subverting the law and extortion. Constables Maurice Taylor, Anthony Harris, Itrea Shuriah and Omar Gordon were remanded in custody last week after arresting a a local at his residence and subsequently demanding some US$3000 to compromise the alleged case against him. In a separate incident Constable Taylor has been charged with robbery of some 2000 US from an associate whilst constables Harris and Shuriah, are facing robbery with aggravation charges Meanwhile Constable Gordon is facing charges of conspiracy to kidnap and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act. Constable Gordon, who is said to have "abandoned his job", is facing charges of conspiracy to kidnap a man who is suspected to have been a player in the Montego Bay lottery scam in June last year. The man, who was abducted from his Montego bay residence in June 2007, is still missing.

police in jamaica
People of color dying in so many third world countries....at the hands of their own people. Jamaica is rich in so many natural resources and tourism but the money stays at the top. No jobs are being created by those in power, seems to be no attempt to provide an improved infrastructure or to improve the living conditions of the people of Jamaica. Instead, because of the dismal conditions , killings and shootings are a daily ocurrence. The police extort money and are free to terrify the populace with behaviour that is associated more with gangs than a profession that is supposed to serve and protect those to whom they swore an oath. One thing is for sure, a Country and a Prime Minister who allow the repression of the people can never hope to compete in the world market. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common practice in countries with people of color. How can we fight racism, poverty and illiteracy when we are too busy killing and stealing from each other?

Follow the EVIDENCE
Know what happened before you decide to inflict harm to others. Not everyone who is arrested is guilty of the crime they are before the court for.
