The Trinidad police Department is at odds with its counterparts in the Coast Guard for allegedly bungling a drug operation. According to reports, the Police Department launched a covert operation to intercept a drug drop off on the north coast near las Cuevas after receiving an anonymous tip off. The officers claim to have informed the Coast Guard of the drop off point, instructing the Guard to intercept the vessel on the ocean. Meanwhile the officers conducted a nine-hour stake out to recovered some 2 million TT dollars worth of compressed marijuana. The officers say that despite repeated signals to the Coast Guard, no action was taken by the maritime officers and the pirogue which made the drop off, was never intercepted.
