Jamicans will have to wait a little while longer to see just who will be the next leader of the opposition Jamaica Labour Party. An injunction has stopped the November 6th election. The injunction was filed by Parliamentarian Pearnel Charles who has objections to the composition of the delegates list.
Attorneys for the JLP tried to get the ruling overturned the day before the scheduled election but were unsuccessful. JLP officials have met to discuss the implications of the ruling but it was not immediately known when the conference and election of a new leader will take place. General elections in Jamaica are due in October 2007.
