Following Guyana president Bharrat Jagdeos announcement last week of a five percent increase in the salaries of public servants, an additional GY$4,000 monthly cost of living relief and subsidizing of flour price, he has moved to have the private sector follow suit. Jagdeo and other members of his cabinet on Wednesday met with members of the private sector in Guyana to look at interventions they can make to assist workers in the private sector to cushion the rising cost of living. Many issues were discussed but that no specific agreements were made.
