Gun violence will not stop CARIFESTA

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Following the attacks by gunmen on Guyana's Ministry of Culture, youth and sport, Dr Frank Anthony says that preparations for CARIFETSA X will continue. The minister called on local police to speedily apprehend the perpetrators of the attack. The minister was resolute that the ministrys work, which includes among other things preparations to host the Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA) X, will continue. The attack, if intended to discourage Guyana from hosting CARIFESTA X, has failed said Minister Anthony. He expressed confidence stating that, despite the prevailing circumstances in Guyana, the Festival will go on.
