The long anticipated date for general elections in Grenada is scheduled for July 8, 2008. Parliament has been dissolved on, and nomination day is scheduled for June 18 while the casting of ballots by police officers is set for July 4th. Over the past few weeks the two main parties on the island (NDC and NNP) have been engaged in heavy campaigning.
General Secretary of the NDC Peter David stated that the country is now at ease knowing the date in which they would go to the polls after being suppressed by the ruling party. Asked if the opposition party would have covered enough ground to win the fifteen parliamentary seats, the NDC representative for the Town of St George noted that they are ready and prepared for July 8. |
