Eat what we grow campaign continues

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Prime Minister Bruce Golding June 12, continued the government's campaign to encourage Jamaicans to 'eat what we grow and grow what we eat' when he paid a short visit to the St. Andrew Technical High School where he planted an ackee tree on the school grounds. As a part of the "effort to get back to the soil," Golding reminded students who gathered on the lawns that Jamaica imports far too much food items. He encouraged the students to take full advantage of their community gardens and utilize the skills provided by the school's 4-H club and Agricultural society in order to be more self-sufficient.

Eat What We Grow.
I agree with Golding, Jamaica needs to go back to basic and stop trying to adapt the Amercan lifestyle of export consumption. JA need to look into the american system and see that they support American made products for consumption. Jamaica need to support Jamacians. JA need to consume what JA produces. BACK TO BASICS JAMAICA

Take Back The Soil
I couldn't agree more; we are far too dependant of imported items to fill our guts. It's ashame that even in the most rural areas banans and other items are at a premium--when you can get it.

Shame!
