Portia blasts proposal to tax prostitutes

Monday, June 23, 2008

A senior health official's recommendation to decriminalize prostitution and tax sex workers has earned the ire of Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller, who said the country should focus instead on employment and education. Simpson is challenging the Government, to ignore such a proposal. The former prime Minister stressed there is a need for more teachers, more policemen and women, not more prostitutes. She also called on the churches to join forces with the Government in offering assistance to prostitutes "so that mothers will not be ashamed and have to hide from our children what they are doing to make a living".

Low standards in a beautiful country
It is high time the country's criminal justice system, educational system, healthcare system and overall condition of the country be reestablish to perform in a manner beneficial to the improvement of the counrty and the people. I recently visited the Bahamas and was surprised to see a country with less prospects than Jamaica had high display of morality, charm, and cleanliness.

The Bahamas and many other small islands have what Jamaica is lacking, and that is moral stability across the board. This lack prevents economic stability and steady growth.

Jamaica is now what Russia once was. Corrupt!!!!!!!!!!!. It is high time an overhaul is establish across the board. Instead of Mark Shields, perhaps Jamaica should reach out to the New York City police force and let them guide them on how to improve the police system. New York City has one of the best police system in the United States.
