A strong call for fortitude and leadership in the face of Caricoms challenges was delivered yesterday by Prime Minister of Jamaica Bruce Golding, at the opening, of the 29th Meeting of the Caricom Heads of Government, while Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer noted the need for reengineering Caricom. While highlighting some of the major challenges that the region faces, Golding made a call for commitment and united action, and launched a defense of the Caribbean Community appearing to respond, at times, to some of the concerns recently raised by St. Vincent Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves. Golding, however, contended that the achievements of Caricom are not to be either discounted or disparaged. He said leaders should examine failures where they exist, seek to correct them, and move forward.
