Capital punishment enforced in St.Vincent & the Grenadines

Monday, November 22, 2004

In St Vincent and the Grenadines, the issue of capital punishment has arisen again and Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves maintains his support of the measure.

In a debate over the Firearm Amendment Act Dr Gonsalves says he supports the death penalty because stops criminals from "holding any sway" in the country.
The Firearm Amendment Act will now provide stiffer penalties for those found with weapons.

Death Penalty in SVG
Like the Honourable Prime Minister of SVG I agree that the Death Penalty must be kept in the Law Books of SVG and implemented after the condemned person/s have exhaust all legal procedures (appeals etc). It is quite clear that capital punishment will be a deterrent. while capital punishment may not stop someone from committing a murder it will definitely make one think twice before committing such crimes. Go brave Dr the Hon Ralph E Gonsalves, make it safe for visitors and nationals alike. God bless you sir

BULL SHIT
The Goddarm priminister better FUCKING chill. Who the hell he think he is. I cant stand that motherfucker....SVG is too small for that, he watches too much TV. who the hell gives him the right to say who lives and who DIES. I think Gonsalves needs a hard wood in his bulling ASS!

death penalty in svg
i strongly disagree with there being a death penalty in svg. i think that there needs to be a stronger emphasis on training homocide detectives and police officers to solve crimes i also think that the money it would take to kill someone could be used towards forensic technology and medical technology that could help to determine facts about crimes and crime scenes. also if the gov't ensures that life sentences are longer than just a mare 2 or 5 years for terrible crimes it would do more justice tothe society and to victims and family of these victims. i think it would serve society better if criminals pay for their crimes in giving back to the community than to take from it if we didn't know it costs to kill and that is taking away we could even kill the wrong person for the wrong crime because svg does not have the type of technology. to go through with the death penalty is not a good idea the government should consider other options

DEATH PENALTY
Iwas born in SVG and i don't think that having the death penalty there is a good idea. What the prime Minister needs to do is to have tougher sentencing on perpertraters that have been convicted of crimes. The death penalty should not be considered as a means of serving the high rates of crime that is going on in SVG.I donot believe in the death penalty my suggestion to you MR.Prime Minister is to sit down long and hard before you go to your bed and pray about it. You are just a man who give you the right to decide who LIVE or DIE.
