The leader of the Antigua Labor Party (ALP), Lester Bird, has blasted Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer for unilaterally renaming Boggy Peak, Mount Obama after United States president elect, Barack Obama. Bird stressed that While Barack Obama's presidency will make an important chapter in world history, Antigua has not honored its own heroes nor has the country honored Caribbean personalities in this way. Bird said that Obamas electoral win was cause for great pride by all people everywhere but added that Boggy Peak was part of Antigua's national patrimony, and added that it was not a street or a building.
