The Caribbean Development Bank has approved three loans for Jamaica to help the country fight poverty, support its agriculture sector, and rehabilitate damaged infrastructure. The Barbados-based financial institution said that a policy-based loan equivalent to US$100 million would support the Government of Jamaica's fiscal and debt sustainability initiatives. The Bruce Golding administration has articulated a comprehensive reform agenda that is designed to effectively control debt generation outside of the budget, strengthen financial management in the public sector, consolidate and streamline revenue systems, and enhance private sector competitiveness. |
