Guyanese may soon be experiencing heavy floods according to Guyanas Acting President Samuel Hinds. Persons likely to be affected live on the East Coast and West Bank of Demerara. The acting head of state urged resident living along those areas to brace for heavy rains and possibly catastrophic floods over the next few days.
"Citizens need to take the necessary measures to secure their property, livelihood and community," Hinds said following an emergency meeting with disaster officials. Guyana has seen record levels of rainfall since Thursday and meteorologists say more showers are in the forecast for the coming days. |
