In the summit held in Belize CARICOM leaders were pushing ahead with devising a road map for a coordinated response to the global financial. Caricom Secretary General Edwin Carrington in his address stated two of the region's most important foreign exchange earners, tourism and remittances, were down.
Journalist Patrick Jones stated that the plans that leadership have come up with is to put together a technical committee made up of governors of the Central Bank and that committee has been task with coming up with a way forward for the financial sector in the Caribbean
The Prime Minister of Belize, Dean Barrow, announced that Belize will join Barbados and Guyana in making the Caribbean Court of Justice a final court of appeal, replacing the British Privy Council.
