The call by Premier Ewart Brown to have Auditor General Larry Dennis removed from the post was rejected by Bermuda's Governor Sir Richard Gozney.
The request was made by Mr. Brown after he complained that the Auditor General's special report had shown that he had abused his position by attacking the ruling Progressive Labour Party (PLP).
It was said in a statement prepared by the Governor that he had also been informed that members of the main opposition United Bermuda Party (UBP) had also been critical of the Auditor General when they were in office.
The auditor General was described by Sir Richard as a hard-working public servant. He noted that this was the not the first occasion that Mr. Brown had asked him to request the resignation of Mr. Dennis.
