The Taiwanese Ambassador was accused by St. Lucias Opposition for meddling in local politics and as a result the Opposition would like the ambassador to be sent home.
This controversy is not the first that the Taiwanese ambassador Tom Cho has been involved in. In 2007 during the visit of the then President of Taiwan it was the so called Red Envelope Affair' when the then Police Commissioner returned cash he had received from the Taiwanese embassy after the Opposition made the issue public.
Opposition leader Dr. Kenny Anthony said all Opposition MPs are planning a news conference for next week to renew the clamour for the Taiwanese ambassador to go.
Dr. Anthony stated that the Ambassadors behaviour is unacceptable and he has caused enough embarrassment to St. Lucians. Meanwhile the Ambassodor has acknowledged wrong in the latest controversy.
"The Embassy regrets that its goodwill is being misinterpreted due to the wrong decisions by the project organizer on the location of the learning centre," said Ambassador Cho.
The Opposition holds that the Taiwanese Ambassador must leave and do so quickly.
