Reggae singer Luciano was charged with harbouring a fugitive by detectives from the St Andrew Central Police Division. This charge came after the artiste spends the weekend behind bars.
Luciano, whose real name Jepther McLymont, was arrested following an investigation by cops last week at his studio in search of fugitive Andrew Senior. Police say they were greeted with gunfire and during a two-hour stand-off; three cops were shot and seriously injured before managing to fatally wound the fugitive.
Luciano subsequently turned up at the Half-Way-Tree police station with his attorney Delano Franklyn. The police conducted an investigation after which the artiste was thrown behind bars. However he was only charged after Franklyn filed a writ of habeus corpus before Resident Magistrate Glen Brown in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The singer will answer to the charge in court on April 9, if found guilty can face up to six months in prison.
