Guyanese Coast guards charged for gold dealers murder

Three Guyanese coast guard officers were on Monday arraigned for the murder of a gold dealer last week.
The gold dealer was abducted from a passenger boat and taken to a remote location where he was robbed and killed.
Corporal Sherwin Hart, 26, Devon Greenwich, 20, and Delon Gordon, 21, who all arrived in court handcuffed and shackled.
They have been remanded and are to return to court on September 24.
The three are accused of killing Kurt Ramdass, 24, between August 20 and 22, 2009.
The wooden speed boat in which Ramdass was heading towards the gold mining town of Bartica was allegedly intercepted by the three coast guards.
Ramdass was said to singled out after they realized that he was carrying the Guyanese equivalent of US$85,000.
He was ordered to board a coast guard boat and was taken to a remote location the Essequibo River.
The three accused on the weekend, led the police to an area where Ramdass body was recovered.
He had been strangled.
Three civilians were also charged with receiving, comforting and maintaining the murder accused and were also remanded until September 24.
The money which Ramdass was carrying was eventually recovered but some of it disappeared while in the possession of the police.
Two policemen have also been implicated in the killing.
