Grenada future diplomatic relations with Taiwan is now in question. Prime Minister Keith Mitchell has left on a trip to rival China to seek funds for hurricane relief.
Grenada recognises the Taiwanese government and has supported United Nations resolutions to recognize Taiwan. China insists Taiwan is part of its territory.
The word is that the Grenada government was unhappy with what they considered an initially slow response by Taiwan to the islands post-hurricane plight.
If Grenada backs out, the only CARICOM nations with ties to Taiwan will be St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Belize and Haiti.
