The former Deputy Prime Minister of Grenada, Bernard Coard, says he is relieved but surprised to be released from jail so early.
After serving a total of 26 years Coard along with 13 other prisoners were released.
Mr. Coard was one of the members of the so called "Grenada 17" convicted for the murder of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and several members of his Cabinet and supporters in a coup in 1983.
While reflecting on the coup that changed the history of Grenada, Coard stated that it is something that he personally and those that were involved will have to live with for the rest of their lives, that is a fact and there is no way around it.
