Its just two months until Trinidad celebrates one hundred years of carnival. But up and coming soca artiste Onika Bostic was beating the odds in the Intensive Care Unit of a Port-of-Spain hospital. She suffered multiples head and spinal injuries in a horrific car accident.
Family members and close friends, along with many in the soca/calypso fraternity were keeping vigil hoping for some positive news about the new but popular singer.
Eyewitnesses say the car with Bostic skidded in a pool of water on the Eastern Main Road near Laventille, flipped three times and slammed into another car, heading east.
Bostic, 24, has been riding high on the success of her first release for Carnival 2005, All is Yours. She was scheduled to perform at four venues last weekend when the accident occurred.
