West Indies battling legend Brian Lara has been appointed a honourary member of the Order of Australia.
Lara, who scored a scintillating 277 on his first test tour of Australia in the 1992-93 is being recognized by the Australian government
not only for his sporting prowess but also for his promotion of Australia-Caribbean relations in promoting goodwill, friendship and sportsmanship through the sport of cricket.
Additionally the award recognizes Lara's role as a sports ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago.
