Tourism Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, John Maginley said his department will continue to monitor the industrial action taken by British Airways employees as negotiations continue.
More than 200 of the 563 flights due to take off or land at 11 major UK airports were cancelled on the third day of the strike action by the airlines cabin crew. However the Minister stated that the nation is not affected at this time as the country continues to see arrivals out of Gatwick over the weekend.
At BAs main hub, Heathrow, 148 of the 318 flights were marked cancelled on BAs online schedules. The strike action is the latest episode in a long-running dispute over changes to pay and conditions. Workers are also angry that the airline reduced the number of crew on long-haul flights and is introducing a two-year pay freeze from 2010.
The airline also proposed new contracts with lower pay for fresh recruits.
