A 21-year-old Guyanese man in Trinidad has been arrested for the murder of a two-year-old infant. Dead is Etean George, who was severely beaten to death.
The accused mans name has not been disclosed but he appears to be a close relative of the infant. He is also being questioned for badly beating of the 22-year-old mother of the deceased, Devika Rani Rooplal, who is also Guyanese.
Reports state that Rooplal escaped after being beaten by the accused man for several hours, but left her son behind. When relatives returned for toddler, they found his lifeless, badly battered body.
The biological father of the deceased, Eddie Smith is also Guyanese. Relatives said that Smith wanted custody of his son from Rooplal. According to relatives, Rooplal and her late son, were frequently abused by the accused.
