Gegry A No Show

Monday, December 20, 2004

Last Saturday, officials at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark apologized for the absence of the Kool Ruler, Gregory Isaacs. The longstanding reggae artiste was due to perform at a show that included, Alton Ellis, Sister Carol and Third World. The US consulate did not grant Isaacs a visa and officials indicated it may have been as a result of Isaacs' criminal history.
The audience booed the announcement but enjoyed Alton Ellis with his hits from the 60 and 70s. Sister Carol's lyrics were also welcome and of course Third World rocked the pac with the highlight being their tribute to Bob Marley

nuff already
i really think it's time the Jamaican and USA Governments stepped up and recognized Mr Isaacs status as one of the greater vocal artists in recent history and not only stop messing him around like this, but actually give him some kind of reward.
