Jamaican reggae artiste Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, may have a chance to win his appeal if the court grants his lawyers request to present oral arguments. The entertainers attorney, David Oscar Markus, has applied to present oral arguments to the court.
This news comes after a reply to the Jamaican entertainer's appeal by US prosecutors on Monday, February 13.
Defence Attorney Wayne Golding explained that oral arguments are reserved for cases with special circumstances, but they offer the attorney a chance to face a panel of judges and answer questions directly. Golding feels Buju's case has some things that may be seen as unique. Dont get too excited though, because the US government's right to challenge an appeal may continue to work against the artiste. Keep your fingers crossed!
