Jamaica-based mobile operator Digicel has acquired Haitian rival Voil from U.S.-
based wireless telecommunications firm Trilogy International Partners, for an
undisclosed amount. Digicel clarified that both the operators would keep running
separately.
Digicel said it serves more than 3.5 million customers across the country, while
Voil serves about one million customers.
Colm Delves, CEO of Digicel, said: We are pleased to welcome Voil customers and
staff to the Digicel family. As proud Haitian companies, Digicel and Voil share one
very important thing in common: we are both deeply committed to ensuring our
respective customers benefit from the best mobile experience. Digicels acquisition
of Voil will see mobile users across Haiti benefiting from increased investment in
even better mobile services and new technology in the future. |
