Authorities in Guyana have arrested a police officer on suspicion of having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Police spokesman Ivelaw Whittaker says the unidentified 22-year-old officer was found hiding under the girl's bed by her parents. He said Tuesday that the officer likely will be charged later this week after medical tests are completed on the girl.
Whittaker said the girl's parents became suspicious after hearing noises from her bedroom. The legal age for consensual sex is 16 in Guyana.
