Glendale Goshia Gordon Jamaican DJ Busy signal has admitted he left the United States 10 years ago before he was to stand trial on drug charges.
He pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of failure to appear in court.
Sentencing guidelines recommend between 12 and 18 months in prison. His attorney, Bill Mauzy, says he'll ask for time served. A sentencing date has not been set.
Gordon was charged in 2002 with two counts related to cocaine trafficking. He left Minnesota before the trial and was a fugitive until his arrest this May.
While the cocaine charges still exist, they were not a part of this process. The United States doesn't have jurisdiction to prosecute Busy on those counts at this time, Once Busy serves his sentence, he'll be given 45 days to return to Jamaica. If he remains in the US after that, he could be arrested on the drug charges.
