Following a recent court inquiry in the Buju Banton trial, a former juror has turned over her computer hard drive to a defence expert as part of a probe into whether she violated court directives, which was to refrain from conducting outside research and to judge the case solely on evidence introduced in the courtroom and on the legal instructions given by the judge.
District Judge James Moody last month ordered marshals to seize the computer of the juror identified as Terri Wright.
He later scaled back his order to allow limited examination of the hard drive to see whether Wright, who was the jury forewoman, conducted any Internet research on the case during the trial of the Jamaican entertainer.
Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, is serving 10 years for two drug offenses.
The Grammy winner faces an additional five years on a related gun possession charge.
