The Guyana Police Force has reported a six percent increase of serious crimes, with 85 persons being murdered so far for the year 2013. According to a statement released on Tuesday a total of 2658 serious crimes were reported including offences like murder, robbery under arms, robbery with violence, larceny from the person, break and enter and larceny, burglary, rape and kidnapping.
There have been 85 reported murders for 2013, from January 1 to August 31, representing a 4% increase when compared to the same period last year (2012) with a total of 82 reported murders.
The Guyana Police force says of the 85 murders this year, 35 were of the disorderly type, 14 were committed during armed robberies, one was execution style, and 13 were domestically related, while the other 22 are so far undetermined. However, the police did not say how many of these murders were solved.
