The Dominican Republic has taken prompt action to avoid a threat of suspension from Venezuela?s PetroCaribe energy programme.
The move comes after prime minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves has written to the Venezuelan president asking him to suspend Santo Domingo from the programme.Gonsalves also advocated that the Dominican Republic be suspended from CARIFORUM, over the September 23 ruling by the country?s constitutional court that strips tens of thousands of Dominicans of Haitian descent of their citizenship.
Authorities in Santo Domingo have announced that they were sending a high level delegation to Caracas. |
