Bogus Barbados Identification cards are being used by criminals mostly from overseas to commit fraud here.
Investigations by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) have revealed that people are mysteriously getting hold of Barbados ID cards and misusing them.
The head of the FIU Guyson Mayers said he encountered instances where criminals were also using other forms of Barbados ID, like passports. But most instances connected to fraud involved ID cards.
Mayers said such offenders could also be involved in money-laundering, drug-trafficking, or be using these methods to finance terrorism.
